This was an awesome event from the race itself to the party at Charlie\'s! The race course was well-marked with fluid stations every mile on both sides of the road. Sun would have been preferable to rain, however, the lack of wind made the weather tolerable. The party at Charlie\'s was hoppin - good people, drinks, music - good fun had by all. I will definitely be back for the race and (hopefully) the party next year.
Great party! Charley\'s was a beautiful location with a gorgeous ocean view, too bad the weather was so lousy or everyone would have been out on the deck. Nice free buffet. The band was having as much fun as the rest of us. Good raffle prizes from local merchants. PRP coozies will be put to good use this summer!
POST RACE PARTY - Great time - very good turnout given the bad weather. The free food was good (thanks to Charlie\'s), the beer was discounted, and the people were in a good mood. The band was excellent - the kids were playing tunes that were written well before they were born. Several good prizes - case of wine, gift baskets, and gift certificates from Shore Runner (Thanks Christine) and Peddler Bike Shop (Thanks Mike!) - two stores that support local runners and running events and bikers in the area.
Lets do it again next year
beside the usual rainy beginning of this event, and the it seems, the historical late beginning the run it self was well marked ,plenty of water and sport drink stops.Great energetic crowd.cudos to the design and maning of the run. HOWEVER- race water and food and support tent left MUCH to be desired. First, after you have given everything you have in the last few miles,to cross,dehydrated-weak..you need water. and it was there ,three big bottles with one lone water person trying to give water to possibly the largest half marathon crowd long branch has seen.Waiting 15-20 minutes is not fun when you need water! Why not ,when they drape the metal over your neck, hand you a small bottle of water? or a cup. Then..over to the \"mosche\" pit tent to try to get a bagel or banana.HOT, sticky and not what you want when overheated. Because of the huge crowd, how about a larger tent, or two medium sized? Now, NOTHING is perfect but with a few minor fixes this could be truly one of the best. :)
