| Description: |
This beautiful and challenging course follows a northern extension of the Finger Lakes Trail system along the eastern rim of the Letchworth gorge from Mt. Morris to Portageville. The trail is very runnable, well-marked and lovingly maintained, but by no means easy. Your meander through the wooded single-track along the rim will be punctuated by a seemingly interminable series of gullies, each entailing a rapid descent and a climb again to the rim. Many small stream crossings and ever-present roots will keep you on your toes. Pace yourself well. The course does not get easier as you near the finish. Solo, 2 person relay (M, F, Mixed 50/50) or 4 person relay (M, F, Mixed 50/50). Elevation: Lots. Over 100 gullies will be traversed during the run, so be ready to go up and down hills all day, though the start is flat. Terrain: 90% single track, roots, rocks and posible stream crossings galore. Entry Fee's: Solo $45 by 5/1, $55 after; 2 Person Teams: $60 by 5/1, $80 after; 4 Person Teams: $120 by 5/1, $160 after. Start times: Solo - 8:00 am, relay - 8:30 am.
